Episode 19 All That Glitters Internet Soap Opera

“You stirred up a lot of excitement with your Julia Golde article, Nicholas,” says Frank. “But I’m worried about the possible consequences of having you on our staff.”

“The way I see it, your readership has increased since they associated my name with this paper,” says Nicholas.

“Oh, yes. Our subscription rate has gone up, but I don’t want any backlash,” says Frank.

“What do you mean?” asks Nicholas.

“I don’t want people to start thinking you’ll be writing that kind of article for the News.”

“You don’t want sensational news. People may become bored again,” says Nicholas.

“As long as the sensation is based on real hard facts that cannot be disputed in court,” says Frank. “I don’t want to start getting into any legal messes right now.”

“Don’t worry,” says Nicholas. “Anything I produce for the News will be thoroughly investigated, not based on hunches and speculation.”

“And how do you plan on investigating?” asks Frank.

“I have my sources.”

“Dad, how has Dan been working out?” asks Tracy.

“He’s been very on top of things. You know Mark does not seem to want to be involved in this business,” says William. “David has no head for numbers and no sense of responsibility. Jason’s itching to branch out. And Marie has her hands full at home right now.”

“You don’t involve yourself with accounts, so I guess you’re not the one I should be discussing this with,” says Tracy.

“What seems to be the trouble?”

“I was comparing the inventory from this end with what I had from London, and there seems to be some recent shipments missing.”

“You’ll have to talk to your Uncle Robert about the Receivables,” says William. “He may know something about it.”

“Another fact I found interesting is that Dan has been receiving regular deposits in his account that does not come from Golde, Inc.”

“Since you are no longer doctoring anyone in the family,” says David, “perhaps, you’d consider going out to dinner with me.”

“I’m sorry Mr. Golde,” says Amanda. “I really don’t have many free evenings right now.”

“You can’t work all the time. I’ll come pick you up tomorrow night at eight.”

“I may not be home at that time,” says Amanda.

“I think you should make the time,” says David. “I think I may tell you some interesting news.”

“Nana, what are you doing here?!” asks Lisa.

“I’ve come to take care of you, what else?” responds Blanche Albright. “Rick took the time to tell me that the baby had already come. Otherwise, I doubt I would have heard.”

“But Rick’s parents are coming in this weekend,” says Lisa.

“What’s that to do with me?” says Blanche. “We’ll all be nice and cozy.”
