Episode 38 All That Glitters Internet Soap Opera

“I understand that he has no family,” says the social worker. “We can get nurses, some aides and physical therapy to work with him. But he’ll still need someone to oversee all this care.”

“Actually, my parents have agreed to take him home to their house,” says Amanda. “That way, they can help with the care. Plus, the police will be providing a guard. I can also check on him, outside of work.”

“Are there any other precautions?” asks the social worker.

“Yes, everyone who is sent in will need to be screened carefully,” says Amanda. “That was a request from Detective Daze.”

Alex walks into Tara’s office. “Nice office,” he says.

Tara turns around. “Alex! What are you doing here?” she asks, smiling up at him.

“Just came to see your new digs,” says Alex. “And to see you.”

“Do you want to look around?” Tara asks.

“Sure.”

As Tara shows him around the stables, Alex asks, “I guess there’s nothing now that could induce you to come work for us?”

Tara turns to him in surprise, “Work for you?”

“Why not? With your skills with horses, there’s always a position,” Alex says.

“That sounds very tempting, and a month ago the decision would be somewhat easier,” says Tara. “But my parents are counting on me to run this place, and I can’t let them down.”

“What about considering some type of merger?”

“Mama, don’t you think Lisa needs more friends around?” asks Lucy. “She seems lonely without Rick.”

“Well, she’s got us now,” says Blanche.

“But we’re too old for her,” says Lucy. “I think David Golde was a nice young man. He could bring more laughter in this home.”

“Lucy, I know what you’re trying to do,” says Blanche. “But I’ve warned you, staying in contact with the Golde family will only bring trouble.”

Lucy is undaunted and presses on. “What about that nice girl, Amanda? She might be a good match for David. We could invite them both over.”

“Hmmm,” Blanches thinks on this. “We might arrange something.”

Michael catches up with Amanda in the hallways. “Dr. Steele, I wanted to-”

“Hello, Mr. Silverman,” says Amanda. “I have good news for you. Nicholas Cole will be leaving today. He’s not completely mended, but we’ll bring in nursing and therapy and treat him at home. My family and I will oversee all that, so we’ll be out of your hair soon.”

“I wasn’t trying to get rid of him,” says Michael.

“No matter. You don’t need to worry about him anymore.”

“Must we always argue?” he asks.

“I didn’t realize we were arguing. I’m just giving you some good news.”

“And why do you suppose I consider the news good?” Michael asks.

“Isn’t it? Your cold-hearted legal mind can rest easy now that you don’t need to involve yourself in police matters. And as a bonus, you don’t have to deal with me.”

“Is that good news for you or for me?” he asks.

Late at night, Floyd has a rendezvous with Carl in a dark corner of a dirty bar. “I get the feeling I’m being followed,” says Floyd.

“By whom?” asks Carl.

“I don’t know,” says Floyd. “I just feel eyes boring into my back.”

“It’s just your imagination,” says Carl. “You’re too nervous.”

“I can’t help it,” says Floyd. “This whole business is getting to me.”

“In that case, maybe you should keep away from me,” says Carl. “It’s best that we don’t give people a chance to connect us.”
