Episode 115 All That Glitters internet soap opera: Rachel offers to give Ashley a review; Blanche forms an alliance with Melanie; Belle discovers Mr. Z’s identity

“Well, how did you like it?” asks Ashley, coming over to Nicholas.

“Wonderful,” Nicholas answers.  “It’s surprising you haven’t been discovered.  I suppose when your family expands further, you’ll get your chance.”

“Let’s hope so.”  She turns to Rachel.  “So, you’ve been filling him in on the family plans?”

“No need to,” Nicholas answers for her.  “Everyone’s aware that your family wants to expand into new territories.”

Rachel speaks up.  “But I’m glad I was here tonight.  It gave me a chance to experience your talents first-hand.  If you don’t mind, I could give you some exposure even before your family’s planned expansion.”

“Well,” says Ashley, smiling, “I certainly wouldn’t oppose such measures, as long as it’s not negative publicity.”

“Belle, I’m glad you’re back,” says Claire.  “Where have you been?”

“Oh, I just took a little jaunt out of town for a bit,” Belle answers.

“Were you with Nicholas or Gavin?” Claire asks.  “You were all gone at the same time and no one was sure where any of you were.  Ashley was running around frantic, but your mother said you went out of town with Nicholas.  Nicholas returned yesterday without you.  But, I thought something was brewing between you and Gavin.  I don’t understand this little love triangle.”

“Listen, Claire,” says Belle.  “There is no love triangle.  It’s all a ruse for Ashley’s sake.  You know what she can be like.  Whatever you think is going on, please do not express them to anyone, especially around Ashley.”

“OK, but do you like either one of them?”  Claire is curious.

“I like them both.  But not the way you mean.”

“I’m surprised you’re supporting me,” says Melanie, “even though, I am grateful for it.”

“Why should you be surprised?” asks Blanche.  “After all, I’m a newcomer here as well.  You can’t pretend that I was accepted with open arms.”

“Uh, no,” says Melanie, warily.  “So, we’re the new girls on the block.”

“Yes, and we should stick together for moral support.  I’m sure the others are going to be antagonistic towards us.”

“You’re right,” Melanie says, smiling.  Just then a phone rings and she answers it.  Blanche pretends to walk away while Melanie watches her.  Around the corner, Blanche stops to listen.

“Don’t call me here,” Melanie says, in a lowered voice into the phone.  “I can’t talk right now.  OK, I’ll be there.”

Gavin is beginning to regret sending Belle home as he follows Mr. Z into Arizona.  Mr. Z was alone, so Gavin can only assume that Justin was sent home to Vegas.  Driving through the desert he found very little cover.  When Mr. Z pulls down a deserted road, Gavin pulls up to examine a map for an alternative route.  It would look too obvious to follow such a dirt road.

Belle receives a text message.  “Oh, my gosh,” she says, as she reads it.

Quickly, she dials Gavin’s number.  “Hello, gorgeous,” he answers.  “Miss me already?”

“You’re lucky Ashley’s not on either end.  But I have an ID on our Mr. Z.  His name’s Ryan Loomis.  And he could be dangerous.  So watch your back.  For your own protection, maybe you should tell me where you are.”

“I’m in the middle of nowhere in Arizona and I may have lost my prey.  You’re not thinking of flying back, are you?”

“No, but I could arrange for some back-up in case.  Tell me precisely where you are, or as well as you could.”

He examines his map again and describes his whereabouts.

“Keep your phone charged,” Belle says.  “And let me know when you run into trouble.”

“Yes, mom,” Gavin answers.

Rick comes out of Lucas’ room.  “He’s asleep now.  He was pretty attentive to the story, and I could tell that he wanted to ask questions.  But he kept his mouth shut.”

“That’s all right,” says Lisa.  “We can’t  expect major leaps and bounds.  Maybe you can try turning reading time into a sort of game and see if that helps.”

“That’s an idea.  I’ll try it tomorrow.  Or, maybe we can have him say good-night to Eileen before he goes to bed.  He’s forming an attachment to her.”

“Yes,” says Lisa, thoughtfully.  “I’m surprised to find that he understands his relationship to her.”

“Maybe it’s because of his experiences at Marie and Dan’s.”

“I guess it was a good idea to start there.  I’m glad we’re all working together to help him.”

“Are you ready for tomorrow?” asks Michael.

“As ready as I can be,” says Amanda.  “It’s not like studying for an exam.”

“Are you scared?”

Amanda shrugs.  “I suppose I’m a little nervous.  I don’t know what to expect.  It seems to be such an open and shut case that I can’t see how important my testimony could be.”

“Yes, but he’s pleading temporary insanity.  They’ll ask you to describe everything in detail and his lawyers are going to to try to get you to say that he was crazy.”

“He’s crazy, however you look at it.  But I guess I have to watch my words.”

Episode 114 All That Glitters Internet Soap Opera: Gavin sends Belle home; William declares Melanie will join Golde, Inc board; Alex & Tara prepare for horse show; Rachel is curious about Belle

“Well, we’ve made a connection, sort of, between the jewelry and the drugs,” says Belle.

“It’s not a very strong link yet,” says Gavin. “We saw money exchanged for drugs. But how and why is that connected to the stolen jewels?”

“I hate to admit that it’s out of my league,” says Belle, resignedly, “but there’s so much we don’t know yet and I’m not sure how we’re going to find out.”

“So, what now?” asks Gavin.

“Well, we still need to  know where the drugs go,” Belle answers.  “I think we need the police to investigate that gang that took off with the money.  But what do we tell them?”

“We might need another agent to handle that.  We don’t want this to leak out to the police, yet.  They have enough to deal with right now.  Besides, we don’t know where they took off to.”

“I wonder what Nicholas has found out,” Belle muses.

“I think you should go home and find out.  Besides, you need to get back to school.”

“What?  Leave you here alone?”

“Don’t you trust me?  I thought we’ve gotten over that.”

“It’s not that.  I just thought you would need extra help.”

“Thanks for the vote of confidence,” Gavin says, sarcastically.  “But you still have a short spell of school left and you wouldn’t want to be held back for a measly few weeks.  I will return as soon as I can.”

“Are you out of your mind?” asks Robert.  “We’ve had too many changes recently.  Now is not the time for more change.”

“What’s one more change?” asks William.  “After all, I’m only trying to protect my own interests.”

“Do you really think Melanie’s best interests are your own?” asks Tom.

“She’s my wife,” William turns on him.  “I do not want to hear any disparaging words about her.”

“Dad, I think you’ve gone over the top with her,” suggests Jason.

“Damn you!  I did not ask your opinion.  I suppose you all think that she’s a fortune-hunter.  Well, you know nothing about her.  If anyone rushed into this relationship, it was me.  Not her.  I still hold the majority stake in this company, so I don’t need your approval.  I only thought it would be in the company’s best interest to involve everyone.  I see it was a mistake.”

“I know I’m new,” Blanche chimed in, “and I’m not supposed to vote on anything major.  But, you have my support, William.”

Marie gasps.  William turns to Blanche, awestruck.  “Thank you,” he says.  “You’re all dismissed.”

Outside, Marie turns to Blanche.  “How could you?” she asks, angrily.

“Strategy, my dear,” Blanche replies, nonchalantly.  “When you get to my age, you might understand it better.  But fighting William head-on is not going to work.”

“Hmmm.  Very true,” says Robert.  “Maybe we should go along with him.”

“Oh, no,” says Blanche.  “Everyone capitulating would look suspicious.  We need a spy in the enemy camp.  William may not like me, but he’s not likely to trust any of you right now.”

Tom chuckles.  “My enemy’s enemy.  We knew you were devious, Blanche, no offense, but I hope this works.”

“Stardust looks wonderful,” says Alex.  “And she’s so well-behaved.”

“Yes,” says Tara.  “I’m hoping Twilight will be ready in time as well.  He’s well-trained, but can be mischievous at times.”

“Do you know anything about Thornsby’s team?”

“Nothing,” says Tara.  “I’ve been out of touch recently.”

“She’s pretty good,” says Rachel.

Nicholas turns around, “Hello.  Care to join me?”  Rachel sits down.  “Ashley is a great singer.  Too bad her personality doesn’t match. But don’t tell her I said that.”

Rachel giggles.  “How funny that she’s not at all like her sister.”

“Yes, and I’d better warn you that she’ll try to claim me tonight, so don’t do anything to make her jealous.”

“Oh?  What about Belle?  I thought you were dating her.”

Nicholas lowers his voice.  “That’s what Ashley thinks and let’s keep it that way.”

Rachel wrinkles her forehead.  “I don’t understand.  Where is Belle, anyhow?”

Nicholas looks uncomfortable.  “Uh, she’s still out of town.”

“Where?” asks Rachel.  “I don’t mean to be prying, but word is that you both went out of town together.  I was hoping you’d introduce me to her.”

“What is your obsession with Belle?” asks Nicholas.  “You seem to know a lot about her, yet you’ve never met her.”

“Actually, I have met her.  In a way.  I just wanted to meet her up close and see if she might recognize me.  Not that I expect her to.”

“I don’t know how anyone could forget you.”  Nicholas examines her closely.  Rachel turns away shyly.

The Return

Hello, I’m back.  Let’s see if I can try to get this show back on the road after such a long absence.  I know, the website looks a little messed up still.  It’ll take some time to get things sorted again.  But, I hope to revive the soap.  I need a lot of practice writing, so this is the best way to do it.  Enjoy.
